Snow Lake / Gem Lake
It’s a fairly vigorous hike if you take the full trail to Gem Lake (>1800 ft. up over 6 miles) but that doesn’t stop hordes of people from attempting it, including some attacking the trail very late in the day. It’s amazing to me that just a few miles away (say, here) you’ll have the place more or less to yourself. But whatever, the scenery is incredible, and perhaps that’s why people continue to bruise their feet on the rocky trail up from Alpental.
