About that last twitter…
After being a loyal T-Mobile customer since 2001 (as they never failed to remind me when I called them), I ditched them for at&t the day before yesterday - and no, it wasn’t for an iPhone.
The reason is that I got all hot under the collar about the fact that they *deliberately* *prevented* j2me apps from accessing the network on the Nokia 6133 that I bought from them a few months back, never mind that I was paying them the $30/mo “unlimited” rate for data access rather than the $7/mo browser-only rate. I won’t bother to link to all the discussion forums where this has been hashed out before, but it’s a well established fact now. I even called to complain (“thank you for being a loyal customer since 2001”) and they confirmed that yes, in fact, they had crippled my phone. Grr.
So now I’m downloading my j2me apps at 3G speed on a brand new UMTS/HSDPA phone. And I’m only paying $20/mo for unlimited data instead of $30/mo (and for a much faster network). Much better.
